30 Mar Let’s Be Real…Quarantine Life
So this will mark the very first blog post we’ve shared on our site and I guess it’s pretty telling that it’s during quarantine when we all have a bit more time. So let’s be real shall we? At somewhere around three weeks in I’m definitely going a little mad. I am oscillating between gratitude for the time to slow down to do things I wouldn’t normally have time for…baking with my kiddos, trying out new meditation challenges, organizing and cleaning to an OCD level, reading a book in the middle of the day, basically wearing spandex 24-7, and washing my hair and wearing make up only when I have a Zoom call on the books lol. But the other side of me definitely feels trapped and suffocated and a bit uncertain. I am one of those people who needs good solid alone time to recharge and also time spent with girl friends and being social…which I’m really missing. (Zoom is cool and all but…)
With all of the introspective work I have done and continue to do I know better than to let myself slip in to the dark but still somehow it creeps in here and there. I am trying my best to stay positive, and to practice gratitude. I have so many things in my life to be grateful for. But I can’t help but think about the amount of time that we will likely be cooped up like this. I worry about my family, all of my parents and in-laws are in the over 60 segment. My sister has an auto-immune disease and I have a congenital heart defect. I quit my job and a six figure salary last October to take a chance on starting BYND WELL because working in this space is truly where I want to be, to stay, and I don’t want to give that up. Obviously the world seems like it’s on pause and fire at the same time and there are still the very real mortgage and grown-up responsibilities that are all too real. I know there is a silver lining in all of this – there always is in every situation. I can honestly say that in my life and all of it’s collective experiences I do truly believe that there is a force much bigger than all of us that has helped to shape and guide us and that we are all where we are meant to be. I also want to remind myself how much power there is in believing – in ourselves and our ability to overcome and accomplish whatever it is that we want to, need to, seek to do. So hey there Universe – can’t wait to see what major shifts and changes come from all of this. I know we are all in the same boat and all connected in this. I am also grateful to be a part of a community that really does care and is there to help lift and support one another. For now, I will be patient, lean in, and try my best to adapt – it’s all any of us can do after all. As far as the blog goes -. we will seek to share some of the things that we love and believe in, our thoughts, concerns, or things that have helped us in our journeys and put them here for you to see.
With love, Margaret
